About

PubKey is a Bitcoin bar and media house. The first bar opened at 85 Washington Pl in Greenwich Village, New York, in April 2022, at Bitcoin block 735,075. The second opened in 2025 in Penn Quarter, Washington, DC.

Both are neighborhood taverns first: full bars, bar food, and a calendar of meetups, watch parties, conferences and private events. Each has a podcast studio; PubKey produces its own shows there and hosts recordings for others.

You do not need to know anything about Bitcoin to drink here. Tabs can be paid in dollars or in bitcoin.

The name

A public key is the half of a Bitcoin keypair that can be shared with anyone. The bar is named after it.
